International Organization for Standardization
(ISO)
is a
world wide federation of 140 nations Iso's
primary objective is to promote the development
of manufacturing , trade and communication among
business organizations worldwide through the
development of generic standards.
The most
widely recognized of these international
standards is the
ISO 9000
series , released in 1987,1994 and in 2000
defines the requirements of quality management
system that can be implemented by any industry ,
of any size ,anywhere in the world .
Organization's can register to
ISO 9001/2000
standard, defining their
scope of business .
There are about 15000 organization in India
(about 6 lacks in the world) including
Industries , semi organization who have
certified for ISO 9000 series standards in India
, Many more preparing for certification.
including Government organization and dept.
There are number of Incentives given by
Government and other agencies for Qualifying for
ISO 9000 Quality Management System especially
for small scale industries.

Certification provides objective proof that an
organization has implemented an effective
quality system , and that it is satisfying all
requirements of the applicable standard . An
external and impartial expert called a
Certifying agency conducts an Assessment to
determine that an organization's quality
management system conforms to the International
standard.
